Trauma Centers

Palm Beach County’s two designated trauma centers are an integral part of the Health Care District’s mission to save lives.

St. Mary's Medical Center and Delray Medical Center are both under contract with the Health Care District to provide a high level of quality trauma care. The Trauma Centers are responsible for staffing a 24-hour on site trauma surgery team that is always available to provide surgical intervention for trauma victims. Once the patient is stabilized he or she is continually treated by the trauma team, including critical care and rehabilitation, until the patient is released from the trauma center.

St. Mary's Medical Center  provides coverage for trauma cases that occur in the northern part of Palm Beach County, north of Southern Boulevard. Delray Medical Center provides coverage for trauma cases that occur in the southern part of the Palm Beach County, south of Southern Boulevard.
